Chef – Philomena Foggs

We are looking for a trained and passionate chef to join our kitchen team at Philomena Foggs. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside our highly skilled head chef who’s exceptional food has brought many awards and accolades including entry into the Good Food Guide two years running and ‘Best Bistro Café in Yorkshire’ from Food Awards England.
In this position you will work closely with the Head Chef to produce the high standard of food we are so well known for.
At Philomena’s everything is cooked from scratch, we don’t do ‘frozen chips’ or ‘bought in brownies’ our baking is all in house, we handmake our burgers, we peel, chop and twice cook our in-house chips. If this is your passion too you may be the person for us. This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your existing skills and join a friendly team who are passionate about food quality and service.
This is a full time position daytime hours Tuesday to Saturday (no Sundays). In addition, you will be part of our very popular monthly supper club, one Friday a month where we showcase our fine dining. In December (Wednesday to Friday evenings) we have our Festive evening dinners, again these are very popular due to the quality of the food we serve, some Christmas dates are already full.
Our afternoon teas are legendary, so we bake (a lot!) This position would suit a chef with patisserie experience along with all round chef skills, if you love to bake and get excited about handmade choux swans there’s a place for you here.
You will have formal catering qualifications.
A minimum oftwo2 years’ experience of chef experience in an environment where quality food is cooked from scratch.
Be a reliable team member and good timekeeper.
You will work well under pressure for busy services.
Have a keen eye for detail and be proud to present beautiful food.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Food preparation under the head chef’s guidance.
Completing food safety documents.
Everyday tasks associated with a busy kitchen.
Hours, full time, minimum 35 hours, more when needed and for evening events.
Excellent salary for the right candidate, this will be discussed at interview.
5.6 weeks holiday allowance includes 2 weeks during our August holiday closure and one week at Christmas. A full week holiday at Christmas after we close at 2pm on Christmas eve, to spend with family.
