Apprentice Accountant – Sheards Accountants

Sheards are Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, providing accountancy and business advisory services to owner-managed businesses and private clients in Huddersfield. We offer a first-class service tailored to the individual needs of each client, focusing on improving personal, family, or business finances proactively and affordably.

OVERVIEW

We are on the lookout for a new full time Apprentice Accountant. As an Apprentice Accountant with our team, you will have the chance to learn from seasoned professionals in the field, gaining valuable hands-on experience while also pursuing formal education and qualifications. This role offers a supportive environment where your dedication and passion for numbers and financial management can flourish.

As well as undergoing your AAT qualification, you will be introduced to many areas of areas of accountancy such as book-keeping, VAT returns, year end accounts, tax returns and payroll.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

With support from our friendly team, training will be given to ensure you can provide outstanding service to your own allocation of clients. We will support you in developing skills in various bookkeeping software packages, including but not limited to, Quick Books, Sage, Xero and Kashflow.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Provide book-keeping assistance and support to clients
  • Preparation of VAT Returns for clients
  • Year end accounts preparation for small businesses
  • Preparation of self-assessment tax returns

We would like the new team member to start in August, working full time from 8:30am to 4:30pm, with Lunch 12:30 to 1:00pm (subject to Flexible Working variations).

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for the job would have the following skills and experience:

  • Be able to show good attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good communication skills to interact with clients and team members
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the accounting profession
