Friends of Holmfirth Library Walk – Holme Valley Views (7.94 miles)
Good walk, steep start but easier thereafter, pathways very clear, refreshments slightly off route but within 5 minutes diversion. Designed to get the best views of the Holme Valley. Good mixture of road, footpath and track best done on foot. Be careful crossing Greenfield Road A 635 and Woodhead Road A6024. Long climb out of Hinchliffe Mill but views worth the effort up to Cartworth Moor. Along the route evidence of past woollen industry, quarrying and activites that gave work and income to the valley. Main agriculture sheep and cattle grazing with more recent horse riding interests. More information from Holmfirth Library and Tourist Information Centre.
