In response to the cost-of-living crisis the Festival, which is community-based and not-for-profit, is dipping into its limited reserves and with the co-operation and funding of the British Film Institute’s Film Hub North and the Holme Valley Parish Council, making a number of films free to encourage
film going and to provide people with the opportunity to see great films from around the world on a big screen.
We would also like to thank Netflix and Sky Cinema for generously allowing us to screen for the first time some of their films (The Dry, Mass, News of the World). We will be making a contribution to the Film and TV Charity.
Our exciting autumn festival 2022 takes place 28-30 October and includes:-
– the first screenings of films from Netflix and Sky Cinema
– a pre-release screening of the wonderful Bunch of Amateurs
– watching the River flow – conservation, rewilding and the River Holme
– the return of films to Hepworth, New Mill and Honley
– a special Ukraine screening plus the very best of World Cinema
with 10 free films/events
As part of the Film Festival’s aim to bring the wonder of film on the big screen to a wider audience at a time when many within our community are struggling financially, we are including 10 FREE events in our October programme – we hope this will give the opportunity for anyone and everyone to see a film. Through sponsorship and support, including the support of volunteers who love film, we are able to hold our general ticket price at £5.
