Join Far Cry Acapella and Song Geet Asian Women’s Choir for an inspiring afternoon of music in the cultural setting of the North of England Centre for Music & the Arts at Tunnel End, Marsden on Sunday 13th July at 4pm.
Far Cry is a Huddersfield-based mixed acapella group singing songs from a range of different cultures – all taught by ear and led by Musical Director Jenny Goodman. The end result is a unique mix of great singing with stunning, unusual harmonies and impressive versatility. Far Cry will be singing their usual eclectic mixture of songs – from folk songs and classic pop to laments from the Pacific Islands and rousing Luddite anthems – all in glorious harmony.
Musical Director, Jenny Goodman, said:
“We’re delighted and honoured to be joined this year by Song Geet. Building understanding and connection between different communities and cultures through song is at the heart of Far Cry – as well as the pure joy of singing!
“Learning and sharing our songs has been the best experience – nothing beats singing in harmony together. We hope this unique combination will also be a joy to our audience.”
Song Geet is Yorkshire’s first South Asian women’s choir, celebrating cultural heritage through song and community – from Bollywood classics to traditional folk songs. They became a household name, overnight, after being invited to sing at King Charles III’s coronation.
Madiha Ansari Khan, one of the founders of Song Geet, said:
“Song Geet celebrates South Asian women’s voices through music rooted in culture, strength, and solidarity. Singing with Far Cry is a powerful act of unity, and we’re proud to support Parkinson’s awareness with songs that bring hope, healing, and connection.”
The event is a fund-raiser in aid of Cure Parkinson’s and there will be more information about Parkinson’s Disease on the day.
Tickets are £10 (standard), £16 (if you’re happy to pay more) or £6 (if you need to pay less.) There will be tea, coffee and a range of home-made cakes available on the day.
There will also be a raffle with a range of prizes donated by businesses throughout the Colne Valley – all proceeds to Cure Parkinson’s.
