HEAD BUTCHER REQUIRED
We are a family-run farm shop (established in 1929) of butchers with delicatessen counter and our restaurant The Rusty Bull.
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen, and we are looking for an experienced head butcher to run our renowned butchery department.
We would like someone who has an excellent product knowledge of all meat who is self-motivated with a desire to succeed.
We expect that you can maintain high standards in all areas including: stock quality and control, food safety procedures including recording information, fresh meat counter and pre-packed meat displays, maintain staff morale and customer satisfaction
You will also need to be able to manage the production of our uncooked meat products such as our award winning sausages, bacon and burgers etc
You will work alongside the other departments to develop the business plan that will support the growth in sales and profitability of your department. You will need to regularly check prices and maintain expected margins.
Greeting and speaking to customers, providing advice, answering questions, accepting orders, and offering helpful and friendly advice are all essentials required.
Other tasks include:
Ordering and managing stock – including stocktaking
Effectively developing, training and managing the team including staff rota’s
Following our HACCP procedures and maintaining our 5 star Food Hygiene rating.
Cleaning and maintaining the department and its tools and equipment
Coordinating wholesale deliveries or order pickups
Controlling waste and pest control measures.
We would prefer someone with Head Butchery experience or consider the right candidate who wants to make their first step up to that position.
Salary dependent on experience and candidate. Team discount for use in shop and restaurant available after 3 months.
