Hepworth Village Hall, Town Gate, Hepworth, Holmfirth HD9 1TE
and
Sunday 14th December 4pm
Lawrence Batley Theatre, Queen Street, Huddersfield HD1 2SP
Come and enjoy a magical festive evening weaving songs and words together in the wonderful settings of Hepworth Village Hall near Holmfirth and Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield.
Members of Far Cry Acapella and Holmfirth Writers’ Group come together to Wassail you through the dark early evenings of winter on Saturday 6th December at 6.30pm in Hepworth and Sunday 14th December at 4pm at Lawrence Batley Theatre.
Jenny Goodman, Musical Director of Huddersfield-based Far Cry, said:
“The audience should expect the unexpected. We don’t sing the carols you hear every year but multi-harmony winter songs from folk traditions across the world plus original material and the occasional popular classic.”
Sally Brown who sings with Far Cry, and is also a member of Holmfirth Writers’ Group, added:
“We’re so excited to bring the creativity of both singers and writers together. The writers have created beautiful poems and prose inspired by the words of our songs…. plus a sprinkling of humour and bah-humbug! We can’t wait to share it with our audience.”
So come along and celebrate community, light in the darkness, wintery landscapes and angels while supping mulled wine and munching on mince pies (Hepworth only). There will also be a bar and a raffle at both events.
Profits from the Hepworth concert will go towards the Welcome Centre, an independent food bank based in Huddersfield, and profits from the Lawrence Batley Theatre concert will be used to support its Christmas Heroes scheme, which pays for children and their families to experience the magic of theatre at Christmas.
Becky Dash, Chief Executive of Lawrence Batley Theatre said:
“Our pantomime offers escapism and inspiration to children. Through our Christmas Heroes scheme we are able to make sure that those who really need it are given this opportunity.”
Charlie Taylor, from The Welcome Centre, said:
“This support comes at a crucial time, as demand for our service continues to rise. In October alone, we provided 28,539 meals to people experiencing food crisis across Huddersfield and the surrounding areas — a 9% increase on the previous year. All funds raised from this incredible event will help us continue to be there for anyone in our community who needs us.
