Shepley Preschool and OOSC are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and pro-active Early Years Practitioner. The successful applicant will work as part of our team, delivering and contributing to a high quality, caring and stimulating environment for our children. We are looking for someone who has an interest in working with young children under 5 years and possibly spending some time with our older children aged 5 years to 10 years. This person will have the ability to relate and interact with children and most importantly should be enthusiastic and caring.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. To report any safeguarding concerns or queries to the Senior Childcare Practitioner or safeguarding lead on duty at the time. Ensure that safeguarding training is kept up to date and you follow the settings policies and procedures at all times
2. To act as a key person and ensure electronic learning journeys are kept up to date and assessments on children are completed where needed. These will include 2-year checks, transition reports biannual assessments on all key children
3. Keep strictly confidential any personal information relating to children, their families or members of staff learned as part of the job.
4. To be responsible for identifying SEND issues supported by the SENCO.
5. To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the setting exchanging ideas about children’s progress and encouraging parents’ involvement.
6. To ensure that the setting is a safe environment for children, staff and others, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high, safety procedures are implemented at all times
7. To be involved in training and staff meetings out of work hours
8. To undertake other duties consistent with the scope of the post and within the competence of the post holder as required, in accordance with the settings aims and objectives.
9. Lead by example and follow our code of conduct at all times
10. Ensure that high standards of hygiene and safety are maintained at all times
11. Understand that you represent Shepley Preschool and OOSC at all times
Qualifications and Skills
- Level 3 qualification in Early Years
- Some experience of working in an Early Years setting
- Able to work well in a team and be able to build good relationships with children, parents and other staff.
