Balling Machine Operative – Spectrum Yarns

Spectrum Yarns Ltd is a family-owned textile manufacturing company based in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield. We manufacture yarn and garments in our factory which supply our two brands; Glenbrae and Stylecraft. 

As we are an SME/family business with a total of 115 employees (a significant percentage of which have received a gold watch for 25 years’ service) we take tremendous pride in the fact that we have a happy and loyal workforce. We operate an open-door policy that encourages and values all employee feedback, views and ideas within the business.  As there are not many layers of management this means that your voice can be heard and is encouraged! 

We are looking for somebody who is conscientious, hardworking, has good attention to detail and enjoys being part of a team to join the balling department. 

Shifts are Monday – Thursday 6.30 am – 5 pm. 

Duties Include: 

  • Day to day running of machines 
  • Ensuring machines and working areas are kept clean and tidy 
  • Facilitate and improve production efficiency 
  • Ensure mill procedures are followed to maintain high quality standards 
  • Adhering to mill safety policies and procedures 
  • Working alongside other members of team / department 

Key Skills: 

  • Good communication skills 
  • Great attendance and time keeping 
  • Physically fit, as you will be on your feet throughout the shift 
  • Work well as part of a team 
  • Must be able to read and have attention to detail 
  • Adhering to mill safety policies and procedures

Experience & Education (preferred not required) as all training will be provided onsite: 

  • Experience in textile mill would be an advantage 
  • Experience working hands on 

Hours of work: 

  • Monday – Thursday: 6.30 am – 5 pm
