Receptionist and decontamination nurse

Location: Holmfirth Dental Surgery with flexibility to work at Meltham Dental Care when required

Position: Part-Time (22 hours) Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays – with flexibility to work other days – please note start times are 8.15am latest finish time 6.15pm

Salary: £10.00 – £12.21 per hour

We are a friendly and professional dental practice seeking a dedicated and reliable individual to join our team as a Dental Decontamination Nurse & Receptionist. This dual role is ideal for someone with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care and infection control.

Key Responsibilities

Decontamination Nurse Duties:

  • Carry out the full cycle of instrument decontamination in line with HTM 01-05 guidelines
  • Maintain sterilisation equipment and ensure proper record-keeping
  • Monitor and manage stock of decontamination supplies
  • Support clinical staff by ensuring timely availability of clean instruments

Receptionist Duties:

  • Greet patients warmly and ensure an excellent front-of-house experience
  • Schedule and manage appointments using dental practice software
  • Handle patient inquiries via phone, email, and in-person
  • Process payments and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and confidentiality policies Requirements
  • Previous experience in a dental or healthcare setting (preferred)
  • Knowledge of infection control and decontamination processes
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Proficient in computer use
  • Friendly, professional, and patient-focused
  • Happy to have Hep B vaccination

  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills
  • Proficient in computer use and dental software (e.g., SOE, Exact – desirable)
  • Friendly, professional, and patient-focused

Desirable Qualifications

  • Valid DBS certificate
  • Dental Reception experience
  • Decontamination or cross-infection control trained
