Honley Open Gardens

Join us for a delightful weekend of entertainment in Honley and the surrounding areas, featuring the opening of 11 stunning gardens to the public. From charming bijoux gardens to expansive landscapes, there’s something for everyone to inspire your own gardening endeavors. Many of these gardens are conveniently located within a short walking distance from Honley Centre, with two offering a scenic stroll through Magdale, showcasing impressive efforts to promote wildlife and encourage our community to embrace the great outdoors.

This year’s theme, “Our Green Initiative,” highlights the remarkable work done by the Friends of Honley in Honley Park, where you can explore a vibrant wildflower turf bed and beautifully revamped entrances designed to attract bees, butterflies, birds, and other beneficial insects. Our village community garden has flourished this year, featuring raised beds and a unique shelter that provides a resting spot for gardeners while collecting much-needed rainwater.

Eden Forest will be on-site, crafting delightful wicker items and engaging activities for our younger visitors. The local library volunteers will also be present, offering children’s entertainment, including a treasure hunt, craft activities, and a display of plans for their memorial garden. Enjoy live music throughout the weekend, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Complimentary buses will be available to transport visitors to the outer gardens. With an entry fee of just £10 for the entire weekend, this event promises excellent value for an unforgettable experience.
