DESCRIPTION:We now offer a full day (bookings available weekdays\, Mondays to Fridays\, 10am – 5pm) one to one workshop session with Karl in his studio at the Sculpture Lounge in Holmbridge\, Holmfirth\, West Yorkshire.\nYour day can be tailored to your specific needs and requirements\, so this workshop will suit you if you’re any of the following:\n* I’m completely new to jewellery-making and would like a full introduction to the basic tools and methods\n* I’ve dabbled in the past and would like to refresh my skills and memory\n* I’m already pretty adept at making jewellery but would like to extend my knowledge\, gain advice\, learn hints and tips\, and have full use of your tools and workshop for the day\nIn his fully equipped studio\, Karl can guide you through the process of how to cut\, file\, shape and solder copper and silver\, in order to create your own special piece (or pieces) of jewellery. You’ll be encouraged to think about the way different materials work and how various methods such as heating\, hammering and texturing\, can assist in creating unique pieces. You can work from your own design ideas or a number of possible examples. Karl will work closely with you with to create your vision within the parameters of the time and materials available. Together you will examine the designs\, and explore the methods required to turn your design into a reality.\nUltimately\, the aim of the day is whatever you want it to be (within reason of course; we can’t promise you’ll leave the next Faberge or Winston! But we’ll do our best!). Upon booking\, drop us an email with some ideas of what you’d like to get out of the day\, and we’ll let you know how we can help.\nYou can book as many days as you like or just the one! We don’t mind.\nTo note:\nThe minimum age of participants is 18.\nA set amount of materials are included in the price\, however if your design requires more\, this can be purchased on the day.\nThe course will run each day between 10am and 5pm with a one hour break at 1pm.\nAll tools required will be provided\, however if you do have any personal tools that you would prefer to use\, you are more than welcome to bring them along.\nLight refreshments will be provided throughout the day but students are advised to bring a packed lunch.\nThe courses will take place throughout the year at Karl’s workshop which is located at;\nSculpture Lounge\nHolmbridge Mill\nBank Lane\nHolmbridge\nHolmfirth\nHD9 2NE\nIf you have any questions regarding Karl’s workshops or wish to enquire about a mutually convenient date to book\, please do not hesitate to contact us.

These sessions offer calm\, connection\, creativity and a supportive wellbeing space for adults in a woodland setting. \nHeartwood focuses on accessible\, hands‑on creativity using natural materials\, with opportunities to contribute to collaborative artwork shaped by our Artist in Residence. \nThis session is designed as a post summer reset. A chance to breathe out after the holidays\, settle back into routine and enjoy quiet time in nature with friendly facilitators who understand anxiety\, overwhelm and sensory needs. \nFully catered with Lunch\, hot drinks and snacks included.\nFinance should not be a barrier to making friends\, so all places are offered on a Pay As You Feel basis. \n🌿 What we will be doing\nEach Heartwood session blends simple\, seasonal making with gentle nature connection. Activities are beginner friendly and use natural\, locally sourced or foraged materials. \nActivities Include:\nCyanotype printing using seasonal plants and sunlight\, weather permitting\nWillow weaving to create small sculptural forms\nGreen wood whittling with safe tool use\nNature connected photography guided by our Artist in Residence\nCollaborative artwork that contributes to the wider Heartwood installation\nYou are welcome to join in as much or as little as you like. There is no pressure to produce anything. Simply being in the woods is enough. \n🌿 Artist in Residence\nOur Artist in Residence\, Sarah McNally\, shapes the creative feel of Heartwood. Her nature connected practice influences the materials\, artwork and collaborative pieces created across the programme. DESCRIPTION:Join Nicola Mills (and friends) to sing your hearts out with all your favourite Carols and popular Christmas songs! \nWear your Christmas jumper! \nThe perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit! \nDoors open at 1.00pm\, this is a fully seated event and seats are on a first come first served basis. Bar/refreshments including mince pies and mulled wine available throughout. \nTickets cost £10.00 (under 16s free\, must be accompanied by an adult) and are available in person or over the phone during office hours (Monday to Friday\, 9.30am to 2.30pm) with no booking fee or online via the ticket link (with a booking fee). \nAll proceeds from all events and activities contribute to the upkeep of The Civic\, most events will include a raffle and/or a bucket collection – with all donations gratefully received.
