DESCRIPTION:These Wednesday Evening Workshops are designed to be flexible to meet the needs of each individual whether you’re just starting out in jewellery making or if you’re looking to expand your existing skills and knowledge. \nWith a class of just four students\, in his fully equipped studio\, Karl will guide you through the process of how to cut\, file\, shape and solder copper and silver in order to create your own special piece (or pieces) of jewellery. \nThese intimate classes are designed to encourage participants to think about the way different materials work and how various methods such as heating\, hammering and texturing can assist in creating your final unique piece. \nWorking from either your own design ideas or a number of possible examples\, Karl will work closely with you with to create it\, within the parameters of both the timescales and materials available. DESCRIPTION:Thanks to a successful bid for National Lottery Community Funding\, we are proud to announce a new and exciting initiative\, supporting older people and the elderly within Thongsbridge and our neighbouring communities of Holmfirth\, New Mill and Wooldale.  \nWhatever the barriers may have been to date for these individuals participating in an active pastime – perhaps increased demands and challenges as a direct result of the cost-of-living crisis\, existing mobility issues\, disabilities\, mental health needs\, or even long-term illnesses – our welcoming team has developed the most accessible classes to encourage all to take part. \nOur classes will help rebuild confidence\, self-esteem\, and improve both mental and physical health\, combatting feelings of isolation and anxiety. The opportunity to build new relationships and friendships will ultimately provide a valuable support network as each is able to socially connect with others in the surrounding community. \nOur sessions are greatly subsidised and are available to non-members\, over the age of 60. They have been designed to rebuild strength\, improve mobility and essentially\, balance – ideal for those whose fear of falling is sometimes a barrier to getting out. All activity is low impact\, and no previous experience of sport\, fitness or movement classes is necessary\, our instructors work to the pace of each individual. \nInterested in gaining a little more independence and improving your quality of life in great company? SUMMARY:Wood Carving Introduction Class (Relief Carving) at Jamie Frost Studio
DESCRIPTION:Carving is a beautiful process. The textures\, sounds and aroma of the materials will awaken your senses\, accompanied by the rhythms of each student driving chisel with mallet. In this class you’ll work using finest quality hand tools to carve green timber. Everything is provided. You’ll be shown how to care for tools and where to acquire your own.\n\nNo previous experience is required. Your first class will take the form of a structured introduction to the tools and processes involved. You’ll then move on to your first project. This is a guided workshop with a maximum of eight participants\, where the tutor is on hand to provide tuition\, advice and assistance as you develop your own project.\n\nThe workshop is open from 4-6pm each Wednesday. The introductory class will teach you how to make a relief carving\, to be completed in a 6-8 weeks.

DESCRIPTION:Studio Classes\n\nAll studio classes run by TTC are FREE for peak fitness members. Off peak fitness members are able to attend studio classes run by TTC for FREE during their off peak hours. Our young members age 14+ are able to attend our studio classes run by TTC. As from 2nd January 2025\, classes for non-members are £9.00 per class and £4.50 for tennis members. If you are a non-member attending for the first time\, please allow 10 minutes beforehand to complete our registration process.\nDuring holiday periods (apart from Xmas and Bank Holidays) where our regular instructors are not available\, classes will continue\, however they may be covered by a toning and conditioning class. This course will give you the skills\, knowledge\, and confidence to set up and run your own upholstery business\, or to make a range of modern pieces for your own use\, or to progress in your current job. \nThe course is focused on teaching a range of core\, transferable upholstery skills that can be applied to a range of furniture and items of soft furnishings\, and that will allow you to begin creating from your own space\, or to enhance your current job role. The equipment needed to set up your own upholstery studio is limited to a few key items\, and you will learn about each of these on the course. \nSummer block course will run August 18th to August 30th: Monday to Saturday x 2 weeks. 9.30 – 4.30pm

SUMMARY:Italian Beginners classes at The Modern Language School
DESCRIPTION:This is a weekly course starting Monday 8th September where you will learn the basics of this beautiful language. The courses will be held at our dedicated language school equipped with all the latest technology and run by our professional team of language teachers. With the option to attend either during the day 1-2:30pm or in the evening 7:30-9pm. Oh and if you can’t attend in person (and occasional class or all of them) there is the option to join online. These classes are fun and interactive and great chance to make friends as well as learn Italian. We also offer extra activities including film study session. Wine tastings and cookery evening. If you already know some Italian we have classes available at all levels.
