SUMMARY:Wood Carving Classes (Beginners) with Jamie Frost Studio
DESCRIPTION:Carving is a beautiful process. The textures\, sounds and aroma of the materials will awaken your senses\, accompanied by the rhythms of each student driving chisel with mallet. In this class you’ll work using finest quality hand tools to carve green timber. Everything is provided. You’ll be shown how to care for tools and where to acquire your own. \nNo previous experience is required. Your first class will take the form of a structured introduction to the tools and processes involved. You’ll then move on to your first project. This is a guided workshop with a maximum of eight participants\, where the tutor is on hand to provide tuition\, advice and assistance as you develop your own project. After your first relief is completed we’ll discuss a more advanced project for your net term of study. Previous students have made everything from a Möbius strip to a woodblock printing plate\, along with many animals\, figures\, heads\, owls\, green men… \nThe workshop is open from 4-6pm each Wednesday. DESCRIPTION:This class takes place at the Sculpture Lounge Studios- home to a growing number of professional artists. Classes are led by Jamie Frost\, a figurative art specialist with a particular passion for drawing. \nDrawing is a very personal thing so it’s important to me that the atmosphere of my classes is welcoming and accepting. Small groups of people help each other to understand what they are doing\, regardless of experience\, whilst I provide a structure\, tuition\, and advice which can move things forward. \nMy sessions take into account the complete beginner but we also have plenty of more experienced artists involved. \nIn order to attend you just have to bring yourself and some enthusiasm. DESCRIPTION:We now offer a full day (bookings available weekdays\, Mondays to Fridays\, 10am – 5pm) one to one workshop session with Karl in his studio at the Sculpture Lounge in Holmbridge\, Holmfirth\, West Yorkshire.\nYour day can be tailored to your specific needs and requirements\, so this workshop will suit you if you’re any of the following:\n* I’m completely new to jewellery-making and would like a full introduction to the basic tools and methods\n* I’ve dabbled in the past and would like to refresh my skills and memory\n* I’m already pretty adept at making jewellery but would like to extend my knowledge\, gain advice\, learn hints and tips\, and have full use of your tools and workshop for the day\nIn his fully equipped studio\, Karl can guide you through the process of how to cut\, file\, shape and solder copper and silver\, in order to create your own special piece (or pieces) of jewellery. You’ll be encouraged to think about the way different materials work and how various methods such as heating\, hammering and texturing\, can assist in creating unique pieces. You can work from your own design ideas or a number of possible examples. Karl will work closely with you with to create your vision within the parameters of the time and materials available. Together you will examine the designs\, and explore the methods required to turn your design into a reality.\nUltimately\, the aim of the day is whatever you want it to be (within reason of course; we can’t promise you’ll leave the next Faberge or Winston! But we’ll do our best!). Upon booking\, drop us an email with some ideas of what you’d like to get out of the day\, and we’ll let you know how we can help.\nYou can book as many days as you like or just the one! We don’t mind.\nTo note:\nThe minimum age of participants is 18.\nA set amount of materials are included in the price\, however if your design requires more\, this can be purchased on the day.\nThe course will run each day between 10am and 5pm with a one hour break at 1pm.\nAll tools required will be provided\, however if you do have any personal tools that you would prefer to use\, you are more than welcome to bring them along.\nLight refreshments will be provided throughout the day but students are advised to bring a packed lunch.\nThe courses will take place throughout the year at Karl’s workshop which is located at;\nSculpture Lounge\nHolmbridge Mill\nBank Lane\nHolmbridge\nHolmfirth\nHD9 2NE\nIf you have any questions regarding Karl’s workshops or wish to enquire about a mutually convenient date to book\, please do not hesitate to contact us.

DESCRIPTION:Our Modern Upholstery course has been developed as a comprehensive 12-day course suited to students who want to gain a broad set of modern upholstery skills\, working with foam and other modern materials. This course will give you the skills\, knowledge\, and confidence to set up and run your own upholstery business\, or to make a range of modern pieces for your own use\, or to progress in your current job. \nThe course is focused on teaching a range of core\, transferable upholstery skills that can be applied to a range of furniture and items of soft furnishings\, and that will allow you to begin creating from your own space\, or to enhance your current job role. The equipment needed to set up your own upholstery studio is limited to a few key items\, and you will learn about each of these on the course. \nSummer block course will run August 18th to August 30th: Monday to Saturday x 2 weeks. 9.30 – 4.30pm

SUMMARY:Evening Jewellery-making Workshops with Rooks & Roses
DESCRIPTION:Held at the Sculpture Lounge in Holmbridge\, these weekly Evening Workshops are designed to be flexible to meet the needs of each individual whether you’re just starting out in jewellery making or if you’re looking to expand your existing skills and knowledge.\nWith a class of just four students\, in his fully equipped studio\, Karl will guide you through the process of how to cut\, file\, shape and solder copper and silver in order to create your own special piece (or pieces) of jewellery.\nThese intimate classes are designed to encourage participants to think about the way different materials work and how various methods such as heating\, hammering and texturing can assist in creating your final unique piece.\nWorking from either your own design ideas or a number of possible examples\, Karl will work closely with you with to create it\, within the parameters of both the timescales and materials available. Together you will examine the designs and explore the methods required to turn your design into a reality.\nA set amount of materials are included on your first session to get you going and after that you can purchase what you need as you require.
